Someone recently asked me what the deal with the tree next to the site name was. Basically, I've always had a hard time settling on a given logo for my business. I mean, what are you gonna do when fifteen percent of what you do entails actually coming up with great logo designs?

Adventures in securing Apache directories

Today I had to secure a directory on a webserver that the previous admin had left unprotected. It wasn't a serious security hole, just one of those things that could have caused some irritations were it to be exploited to any large degree. As it turns out, securing the directory in question I think became a bigger irritation than having to deal with the possible fallout of leaving it open because the system (as I found out later) was based on Plesk which seems to over-rule any of the usual methods of securing a directory in apache. Facebook and RSS

As many already know, Facebook is social networking tool with a large following on the web. It integrates games and discussions, ways to find your friends and relatives, and a myriad of other tools and gizmos to keep you in touch with people. Something interesting that I just ran across in it though that could be useful on the SEO front is the ability to integrate RSS feeds directly into your 'notes' page.

Powershell and Cygwin

I've been using PowerShell for a bit now and though it's pretty cool in it's own right there are still some things missing from it. Cygwin fills those holes niceley but the problem is that if you use Cygwin as it's designed you end up having to work in two separate environments.
